About
About Me:
I'm a senior communications and media relations professional with more than a decade of experience helping research universities tell complex, consequential stories — from breakthroughs in computational biology to the ethics of AI in the classroom.
Professional Background:
Most recently, I served as Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Southern California, where I coordinated communications strategy across 23 schools and colleges, managed a team of media relations representatives, and served as the university's lead writer on artificial intelligence since 2021 — covering everything from USC's ChatGPT Edu rollout to the university's $1 billion Frontiers of Computing initiative.
Before USC, I held communications roles at the University of Cambridge's North American operations, the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, and Avila University. Across these institutions, I've worked with researchers, administrators, faculty, and executives to shape narratives that resonate with academic, public, and media audiences alike.
What I Bring:
My work sits at the intersection of strategic communications, science writing, and institutional storytelling. I'm fluent in the rhythms of a major research university — grant cycles, faculty dynamics, rankings season, crisis communications — and I understand how to translate that complexity for a general audience without losing the substance.
I've also been an early and consistent voice on AI in higher education, not just as a subject matter writer, but as a practitioner exploring how AI tools reshape research communications, media outreach, and content workflows.
Get in Touch:
I'm open to director-level communications and media relations opportunities at research universities, academic medical centers, and higher education-adjacent organizations. If you'd like to connect, find me on LinkedIn or reach out directly.
